Planning permission secured for Cross Point
A major new industrial development in the Wakefield District is now one step closer after receiving the green light from the city’s planning committee.
The scheme, Cross Point Wakefield, is to be located just off Junction 33 of the M62 at Knottingley, and the site is ideally located for accessing local, regional and national transport routes. The proposed development will include two distribution warehouses which will provide more than 1.2m sq ft. of accommodation.
Myles Hartley, managing director at Caddick Developments, said: “Cross Point Wakefield is an exciting development which will deliver huge investment and employment opportunities to the area.
“Once completed and fully occupied, more than 2,000 people will be employed at Cross Point Wakefield across a range of roles including warehousing as well as office-based and managerial positions.
“We are pleased that the planning committee at Wakefield Council has acknowledged the opportunity this represents for the area, especially in light of the job losses at Kellingley Colliery and Ferrybridge Power Station. We’re looking forward to getting underway on site.”
